About Us:
The Morris Family has been playing Irish and American music together for 14 years, ever since the youngest member, Jessica, was 5 years old (she now attends Wake Forest University and is a member of the campus comedy troup the Lilting Banshees). Jessica plays violin, flute and penny whistle. Jacob, her older brother, lives in Athens, GA and plays cello and guitar not only in the family band, but also in his multiple bands in the greater Athens area. Joshua, the oldest brother, is an designer in an acoustical architecture firm in New York. He plays violin, mandolin, guitar and sings a few of the tracks. Their parents, Aaron and Debbie, live and work in the triad area of North Carolina - so the family is a little spread out - but takes every opportunity to perform together. Aaron, guitarist, is a teacher and custom builds guitars and other stringed instruments. Debbie is a librarian and keeper of the songs (she remembers the tunes we always seem to forget) - she plays violin.

The Morris Family has just released the follow-up album to their popular self-titled cd released in 2000. (Listen & purchase the album here) This album, Farewell to Summer was recorded by Joshua between 2004 and 2006 and features a new mix of tunes, including Roll Her in the Rye Grass, Hector the Hero, and Star of the County Down. Amy Cann was kind enough to allow us the use of her song, Catharsis - and one of Aaron's originals (for which the album is so aptly named). The album was mixed by the very talented Chris Garges in Old House Recording Studio in Gastonia, NC and mastered by Hoyt Dooley III in Nashville, TN.

The Morris Family performs regularly at parties, weddings, and other events in the North Carolina and Virginia area. Just drop a line if you want them to play at your next event!
